Honouring wisdom while reducing isolation.

ACAO’s seniors’ programs are designed to break isolation, create companionship, and support mentorship. Seniors are the embodiment of wisdom and culture, and their life experiences strengthen the whole community.

The Seniors Program supports community inclusion by helping older adults stay connected, informed, and valued.

Let’s Talk Initiative.

The Let’s Talk Program is a mental health initiative focused on ending senior isolation by creating safe and trusted spaces for conversation and sharing.

It connects seniors with youth to encourage intergenerational exchange and the sharing of life experiences. The goal is to support mental well-being and foster community inclusion for older adults.

Sharing life experience across generations.

The program creates opportunities for seniors to be active contributors to community life while building relationships with youth, families, service providers, and trusted community partners.

African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC)

ACAO is a proud member of the African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC). This collaboration involves working closely with African Caribbean and Black community leaders to organize regular Health and Wellness Seminars.

These events promote health awareness, education, and support. The ACCC has hosted numerous COVID-19 related seminars to help the community cope with the pandemic and its consequences.

Seminar topics have included healthy eating, kidney disease, financial planning, online safety, mental health, fraud prevention, online dating risks, community resources, and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
