Seniors Program

Seniors’ Program & Let’s Talk Initiative

Our seniors’ programs are designed to break isolation, create companionship and mentorship.
Our seniors are the embodiment of wisdom and culture.
The Let’s Talk program is one example.
Our mental health programs also have a seniors’ component.

The Let’s Talk Program is a mental health initiative focused on ending senior isolation
by creating safe and trusted spaces for conversation and sharing.
It also connects seniors with youth to encourage intergenerational exchange and the sharing of life experiences.
The goal is to support mental well-being and foster community inclusion for older adults.

Special Collaboration

African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC)

ACAO is a proud member of the African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC). This collaboration involves working closely with African Caribbean and Black community leaders to organize regular Health and Wellness Seminars. These events are designed to promote health awareness, education, and support.

The ACCC has hosted numerous Covid-19 related seminars to help the community cope with the pandemic and its consequences. These seminars served as a platform to inform and educate on a wide range of health and safety issues.

Seminar topics have included healthy eating, kidney disease, financial planning, online safety, mental health, and fraud prevention. Both youth and seniors have benefited from discussions on online dating risks, community resources, and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
